I know this is an unusual title for my weekly blog. I usually share a recipe with you. Just bear with me, I have some Mauri-1words of wisdom for you. A few weeks ago I was listening to the Fish Radio station. They were talking about the woman who put on the Chewbacca mask and filmed herself laughing. The laughter was so contagious. It had millions of views on Facebook and you tube.  Len and Sara asked what toy you bought for your kids but it was secretly for you. I called in and told them I made no bones about it, I had bought a balanced baton for myself. It had probably been at least 30 years since I last saw the baton.  I never took lessons as a child but I loved twirling batons and anything else I could get my hands on. I had an epiphany. I wanted to recapture part of my childhood. Twirling a baton brought out the kid in me.

jacksI went a step further and I ordered a balanced baton from Wadsworth Music . I picked it up last Thursday. I have batonsbeen out in the backyard twirling the baton almost every day. Not only is it fun, it is also a great way to exercise.

I am going to challenge you this week. Do something this week totally for fun–something that will capture a moment from your childhood. Maybe you should play a game of jacks or play with a yo-yo. Maybe you just need to go to the park and shoot some hoops or ride your bike.

Nothing too heavy this week. Let’s take some time to really laugh and enjoy what we have.

Until next time…From our Butcher Block to your Table.
