Is it just me? Is anyone else having a hard time believing this is already the week of July 4th? I always say it’s Memorial Day, you
turn around it’s July 4th, and you turn around again and it’s Labor Day. So much excitement as many communities are celebrating the 4th with Firework displays. In Wadsworth 2014 marks the Bicentennial of this great community. There is going to be a fireworks display with vendors Downtown on Thursday July 3rd. Dan Rospert, from Hilliard Rospert Funeral Home, www.hilliardrospert.com will be cooking Sherman Provision ribs for Downtown Wadsworth on July 3rd. The Butcher and I will also be in attendance. We are making this affordable for families–2 bone rib, coleslaw and ice water for $5.00. If you don’t get enough ribs on the 3rd you can make your own for the 4th with this recipe.
Pork Ribs
Pork Ribs (3 slabs)
3) Tablespoons Smokey Barbecue Seasoning
2) 32 oz. bottles of Old Mississippi Barbecue Sauce
Have the ribs cut in 2 bone portions and rub the pork ribs with the Smokey Barbecue Seasoning. (If you want to start the ribs on the grill and finish them inside I would recommend leaving the ribs whole for the grilling portion. Rub the ribs with Smokey Barbecue Rub and put them on the grill for 40 minutes, flipping them frequently. Bring them inside and cut the ribs in 2 bone portions) Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Put the cut pieces in a roaster pan with a lid and put them in the oven. Bake the ribs until they are fork tender. Check them after 5 hours. You can also use a crock pot on high for 5 hours. Drain the excess liquid from the ribs and return them to the roaster pan or crock pot. Pour barbecue sauce over the ribs. Lower the oven temperature to 275 degrees and cook for 45 minutes. If you are using a crock pot turn the setting to low and cook an additional 45 minutes. Have a happy and safe 4th of July. Hope to see you in Downtown Wadsworth on the 3rd of July. Until next time…From our Butcher Block to your Table.
