Life has been happening in the Butcher’s house. We have a 14 year old Jack Russell.
Callie Rose has been with us through so much. In May her health started declining. She is losing weight even though she had been eating pretty well. She has gone from 13.5 pounds to 9.7 pounds. We really thought this was the end of the road. Well, guess what? Callie Rose has bounced back. She is once again running through the backyard putting the squirrels, chipmunks and moles on notice that she is back on duty. I don’t know how long this will last, but I intend to enjoy every minute!
Does anyone have any suggestions on food I could cook for Callie Rose? She is getting very picky. She has been living on hamburgers, steak, chicken and rice. You get the picture. Callie Rose is eating better than we are. The Butcher would pull something out of the refrigerator and I would tell him That was Callie Rose’s food. In case you think I am being mean to the Butcher, you have to realize, he is enamored with Callie Rose. If he hears her stirring in the night, he is up with her, taking care of her. I sleep through everything.
One of the things I love about owning Sherman Provision is that we get to help other companies that are just starting out. You may have seen the chocolate covered pretzels we are now carrying in the store. What you might not know is that these pretzels are a labor of love started by Brooklyn in August 2010 when she was only 13 years old. Her company is called Brooklyn’s Bridge of Love. She makes and sells these pretzels to help others in the local community. She first sold these to raise money for her mother’s friend who had been in an automobile accident. Then she sold pretzels to help other 8th grade class members that couldn’t afford to go on the class trip to Washington D.C. This is her Mission Statement, “My mission and hope is to continue to support people/families and have my pretzels be an outreach of God’s love, by letting others know that someone cares.” With a heart like this, Brooklyn is sure to go far. I am proud to have her pretzels in our store. They are delicious and a fantastic bargain at $2.00 for chocolate covered (white, milk and dark chocolate) pretzels and $2.25 for Peanut Butter, Carmel and Chocolate covered pretzels. You get 2 rods in each pack. What also impresses me about Brooklyn is that she has gone through all the steps to get approval from the health department. That is not an easy accomplishment.
I applaud you, Brooklyn, and will do what I can to help promote you and your generous business.
Life happens, be a part of it. Who can you bless today?
Until next time, From our Butcher Block to your Table.

I used to exclusively cook for my little shih-tzu with a testy stomach. It was scrambled, and eggs or oatmeal every morning, chicken and brown rice, and some ground beef and rice.
Then we found Stella & Chewy’s chicken steaks. Stella & Chewy’s is sold on Amazon. I know there’s a place somewhere within an hour drive to buy it local, but Amazon brings it right to my door in two days, so I save my gas money. This is the only food I have fed my dog since I found it. We still cook for them some, but this stuff is so good for them, I feel guilty doing nearly anything else. They love this food! I buy the chicken steaks because that has been his preference. I also buy the carnivoire crunch treats from them, too. They make everything with a great nutritional balance, which I really appreciate.
I took empty bags of these to my vet who was really excited about it. She wanted to photocopy them so she could recommend to patients. I told her she could keep them since they were empty. Check them out and see what you think.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I really do appreciate the time you took to convey this to me. Hopefully others will benefit as well. I will try this and let you know how it works for us. Callie Rose is doing so well. Out chasing squirrels, and having a blast. At 14, I think that is pretty good.
