Most of you know the Butcher
and I are huge Cleveland Indians fans. I love ballpark food. One of my favorites is Soft Pretzels. ThevIbdians are in a tear. They are going for victory number 20 tonight! That is amazing. We are not going to be able to make the game tonight, but I am going to make soft Pretzels so we have the “flavor” of the ballpark.
Ingredients
3/4 cup warm tap water
1 1/4 tsp. di-go yeast
1/4 tsp. sugar
2 cups 5 Roses flour
1 beaten egg
Coarse salt, cinnamon, sugar
Pour warm water into a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle in yeast and sugar. Stir until dissolved. Mix in flour with a wooden spoon. Form dough into a ball. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Grease foil with Pam. Punch down dough, break off piece, roll into the desired shape. Place on cookie sheet and brush with beaten egg. Sprinkle with coarse salt, or sugar and cinnamon. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Cool on wire rack, eat and enjoy! This recipe will yield 12 3 inch pretzels.
Let me know how your pretzels turn out. I hope they are memorable and I hope the Indians victory is memorable as well.
Until next time…From our Butcher Block to your Table.
