Sometimes I take it easy with our Blog recipes. After all, I am not Julia Child and I am
not the Galloping Gourmet. I am the Butcher’s Wife, and sometimes I have to pull out a quick easy delicious meal that doesn’t take a lot of brain power. That is what tonight’s blog is all about. This is what I would call a “no brainer” dinner. I love to make homemade pizza; However, I don’t always have the time to make the dough from scratch. Fortunately for me, Ann’s Pastry, Wadsworth, Ohio has time to make the pizza dough. I have it available in the freezer section of Sherman Provision. I thank them for making this an easy meal for me, and a family favorite!
1) Ann’s Pastry Frozen Pizza Dough
2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
1/2 can of pizza sauce
1/2 package of sliced pepperoni
1) 8 oz. package of grated mozzarella cheese (use 2 if you like extra cheese)
Pull out the frozen pizza dough, remove from wrapper and coat both sides with Olive Oil. Place the frozen dough on your pizza pan and allow it to thaw. This will take approximately 2 hours. When the pizza dough is thawed, use your hands to spread the
dough to the edge of the pizza pan. Make a crust with the pizza dough so you don’t lose any of your delicious toppings. Allow the dough to raise for an hour. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Spread the pizza sauce on the crust, place the pepperoni (and any other toppings of your choice–diced onions, cooked sausage, mushrooms, peppers) on the
pizza sauce. Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. When the pizza crust is browned, put the cheese on the top and bake for another 6 minutes until the cheese is thoroughly melted. Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes. Slice the pizza and get out of the way. Your family will be making a bee-line for the table. You will be a real hero.
You can double this recipe by adding one more pizza dough and another grated cheese to the mix. The pepperoni and pizza sauce will easily make 2 large pizzas. You can purchase everything you need to make 2 large pizzas for $11.00, and enough for 4 large pizzas for $20.00. (2 large pizzas–2) pizza doughs, 1) puff pack of pepperoni, 1) can of pizza sauce and 2) 8 oz. bags. 4 large pizzas 4) pizza doughs, 2) puff pack of pepperoni, 2) cans of pizza sauce and a 2 pound bag of grated Mozzarella/Provolone Cheese) This is our Dinner–It’s in the Bag special this week.
Enjoy. Until next time…From our Butcher Block to your Table.
